Communication. In addition to daily newspapers from the Phoenix area and the rest of the state, the cities share a twice-weekly newspaper, the West Valley View. Numerous radio, television, and cable television stations are available.
Education. Combined, the cities have thirty elementary schools and share six high schools. Estrella Mountain Community College, Phoenix College, Glendale Community College, and Rio Salado College offer courses via the Maricopa Community College District which serves the Southwest Valley.
Medicine. The communities have access to many medical practitioners including dentists, chiropractors, optometrists, gynecologists, and family physicians. Hospitals in the area include The West Valley Hospital located on McDowell, east of Litchfield, Banner Estrella Hospital at 99th Ave and Thomas, and The Cancer Treatment Centers of America located west of Litchfield Rd. just south of I-10.
Palm Valley Medical Plaza which houses primary care physicians and clinical specialist as well as pharmacy and radiology centers.
Finance. There are numerous bank offices in Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, and Tolleson including Bank of the West, Comerica Bank, Enterprise Bank & Trust, JP Morgan Chase, M&I Bank, Meridan Bank, MidFirst Bank, National Bank of Arizona, and Wells Fargo. Creidt Unions include Alhambra Credit Union, Credit Union West, First Credit Union and Sunwest Federal Credit Union.
Government. These cities have individual offices and are each governed by a mayor, six council members, and a city manager.
Airport. Southwest Valley residents have access to the Phoenix-Goodyear Municipal Airport with one, lighted 8,500 ft. runway, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which is located 18 miles to the east.
Lodging and Meeting Facilities. The communities have fifteen hotels and one four-star resort. The resort and most of the hotels have meeting facilities along with the local community college.
